Miki Kawahara - Executive Director, Baseball Operations (aka Head Technical Director)
Coach Kawahara graduated with his degree in Human Kinetics from the University of British Columbia. While in college he was an academic All-Canadian playing for the Douglas College Royals (NWAACC) and the UBC Thunderbirds (NAIA). After finishing his playing career, Miki remained in British Columbia until 2007.
During that time he helped coach the Coquitlam Red Legs to back-to-back Regional Championships in the BC Junior Premier Baseball League.
In Canada, Miki has coached at the 2007 BC Provincial Camp, 2008 & 2009 Alberta Spring Training, 2008 & 2009 Canada Cup (Team Alberta 17U), and the 2008 & 2009 Alberta Prospects (Head Coach). As a head coach for the Babe Ruth Calgary travel program he has taken the Blues all over the Pacific North West. His international experience includes playing in Japan and Australia as well as coaching in Venezuela in 2010. A Level 3 baseball coach with the NCCP, Miki is also a Certified Strength & Conditioning Coach (NSCA), and a Sport Conditioning Specialist (TCI).
Cliff Carlson - Technical Director - 2025 Spring Season Lead
Cliff has a diverse background in youth athletics, development and sports. As a youth Cliff started playing baseball with the Continental West Little League which is now called Rocky Mountain Little League. As a coach, Cliff worked his way through Rocky Mountain Little League coaching many League Teams and All-Star Teams along the way. In 2016, Coach Carlson made the transition over to Babe Ruth Calgary Baseball and began coaching in what was at that time, called the Single A Division. From there Coach Carlson moved into coaching Babe Ruth AA and then AAA Club Teams and was also the Club Manager of the Dodgers for 2 years. In addition to coaching within the Babe Ruth League, over the years Cliff has also continued to coach a variety of Babe Ruth Travel Teams.
Noah Carlson - Technical Director
Noah first joined Babe Ruth at age 13, playing both house league and travel ball each year in the league, after his time in Babe Ruth was up he went on to play one year at the University of Calgary. After Noah’s playing days were over he started coaching in the fall of 2022, ranging from tier 3 up to tier 1 in both the fall and spring seasons.
Noah has also coached travel teams in the past two summers most recently the AAA Blues.
Tim Wiebe - Technical Director
Tim’s baseball journey began at age 10 with Sunridge Little League and has taken him through Baseball Alberta, Babe Ruth, the U of C Dinos (2006–2007), and senior-level play with the AAA Red Deer Riggers and AA Razorbacks. He competes in the Foothills Men’s Baseball Association (FMBA), Chinook Twilight League (CTBL), Canadian National Oldtimers Baseball Federation (CNOBF), and with the Vancouver Canadians at the NABA World Series. Earlier in his career, he had stints with the Braves (1996) and the Cannons (1998), adding further depth to his on-field journey.
Since transitioning to coaching in 2022, Tim has worked with Little Leagues, Babe Ruth, and even junior girls’ volleyball. In 2025, he steps into the role of Technical Director, bringing his love for mentorship and development to the next level.
Off the field, Tim is an entrepreneur and multi-sport athlete who’s on a mission to visit every MLB stadium. His coaching philosophy is simple: “Have fun with this game! You will remember the wins and losses, but you will never forget the positive relationships built and the memories people have made in your life. A wise man once told me, "Look down into the dugout, a few of them will be standing by you at the altar."
Duncan Elgert - Technical Director
Duncan's baseball journey began with Cal West, continued with the Calgary Redbirds and Babe Ruth Calgary, and led to collegiate play at Thompson Rivers University (TRU) and Prairie Baseball Academy (PBA) while earning his Kinesiology degree from the University of Lethbridge.
Duncan started coaching in 2017 and now works with Diamondawgs and runs Babe Ruth Catching Camps, focusing on developing young catchers and strong fundamentals.
A golf enthusiast off the diamond, Duncan’s favorite baseball moment is Edwin Encarnacion’s iconic walk-off against the Orioles—a reminder of the game’s unforgettable magic.
Marshall Smith - Technical Director
Marshall began his baseball journey with Rocky Mountain Little League before joining Babe Ruth Calgary, where he played for seven years, progressing from Single A through to Triple A. After ageing out, he immediately transitioned into coaching with the 54/80 Fire Frogs in 2024 and was named Manager of the Year in his first season. He is currently the head coach of the AA Rockhounds and will also be stepping into a leadership role as a Technical Director, working closely with the 54/80 division to support player and coach development.
Outside of baseball, Marshall played a variety of sports growing up, including football, hockey, and golf, bringing a well-rounded athletic background to his coaching. He also serves as head coach for Hockey Calgary’s Centre for Newcomers program, where he has worked for the past two years. Marshall is a second-year student at the University of Calgary, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with the goal of becoming a lawyer. His commitment to athlete development, inclusivity, and team culture is evident across all levels of sport he’s involved in.
Adam Vink - Technical Director
Adam Vink started playing baseball at 4 years old and played in Cal West Little League until he was 13. He played with Babe Ruth Calgary from 14 years old to 18 years old, and started coaching with BRC in 2024.
In addition to baseball, he also spends his time off the diamond at the arena, playing hockey. He values the friends and relationships he made as a player with Babe Ruth Calgary, which have continued on throughout the years even outside of baseball.
He currently attends the University of Lethbridge and is excited to continue coaching this year with the AA Rockhounds and providing coaching support with a focus on pitching and defense.
Andrew Doyle - Technical Director
Andrew came up through the Babe Ruth Calgary program and played several seasons with the Calgary Blues. Upon his completion of High School baseball, Andrew headed to the University of Lethbridge where he played with the Prairie Baseball Academy. After 2 seasons with the program, Andrew decided to pursue his combined degree in Business and Kinesiology. He later returned as PBA's Junior Varsity Head Coach for two seasons where he helps the collegiate athletes in their weight training and conditioning, skill development, and game play.
Andrew has also had stints coaching with the Coyote Den school of Baseball and within the Diamondawgs program and Calgary facility. He looks forward to bringing his knowledge and experience back to Babe Ruth where his passion in baseball truly took a foothold.

Nolan Anderson - Technical Director
I started my playing career with Rocky Mountain Little League before joining Babe Ruth Calgary. I played Babe Ruth for 7 years for both house league and travel. After my time with Babe Ruth I played 3 years at the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV). Winning a Canadian College Baseball Conference (CCBC) championship with UFV in my second season. I have now been coaching for 2 years at Babe Ruth Calgary (AA Volcanoes and AAA Woodpeckers).

Jack Randall - Technical Director
With an extensive background in Calgary baseball, I’ve trained with the National Sport Academy in high school, competed for the Webber Academy Wildcats College Prep team, and played for the 18U Premier Blues. I’m currently continuing my baseball career at Dalhousie University in the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball Association, while also pursuing a degree in Sports Psychology. With my time back in Calgary, I’m working as a Technical Director with Babe Ruth Baseball, working with players to help develop both the physical skills and mental approach needed to succeed in today’s game. Whether it’s refining mechanics at the plate, improving defensive skills, or building confidence for an upcoming game, I am excited to help the next generation of athletes level up their performance.
Dylan Schaefer - Technical Director
Played Cal West Little League then moved to JD which is now Calgary Bucks Baseball Club. Left Bucks to play with the Babe Ruth Calgary Premier team. Committed to Big Bend in Moses Lake, Washington and then transferred to Adams State in Alamosa, Colorado, where I currently play. Represented Team Canada second year on the Premier Team.
