Why volunteerism is mandatory for each player family
BRC provides competitive baseball while offering affordable fee rates because we have dedicated volunteers. It’s true that we have paid contractors and vendors that we are fortunate to have the opportunity to partner with, but the remainder is filled by dedicated volunteers who step up to fill roles as needed.
This willingness to help starts with our coaches. Our club team coaches are not paid staff. Many are alumni of Babe Ruth, some are parents with extensive baseball experience, and some are Technical Directors who also take on coaching a team (in an unpaid capacity). Each of them steps up to help offer a continuum of development training and a competitive level of ball on the fields.
Also serving our teams are volunteer Team Administrators (TAs) and the volunteers who help track stats for each team during each game. Please help them succeed by replying to their requests for volunteers and taking the initiative to sign up for shifts. If you notice there are only a few people on your team who can fulfil Pointstreak or scorekeeping duties, ask them to train you so they can sit back and enjoy some games too.
We also have league volunteers who serve on our Board of Directors, and coordinators who work with our board in special projects (for example, Casino Coordinator, Pointstreak Leads, and Apparel & Equipment). This past year (2024) we expanded our board from 6 to 12 positions, and the number of league coordinators expanded from about 10 to 20 roles, with a few more to fill. This is made possible because we have passionate alumni and parents with expertise to lend us.
Our strategic priorities for 2025 for our board include enhancing member engagement, the baseball game experience, and player and coach development at practices. The team is focused on the growth of our players, coaches, umpires and our community impact.
To learn more about how you can help, we welcome you to reach out to the Board of Directors - their email addresses can be found on our Contact Us page.
Most importantly, please continue to read the weekly newsletters and follow us on social media for timely updates and calls for help! Our team does a great job of summarizing everything so you have a summary once a week, with only emergency emails in between.
