Dear Babe Ruth Calgary family,

On behalf of the Babe Ruth Calgary Board of Directors we would like to share that our President, Jason Mikalishen, has informed us that he will be retiring from his role, effective at our next AGM to be held on June 3, 2024. With greatly mixed emotions, we have accepted and endorsed this significant decision.

BRC has been immensely privileged to have Jason lead our organization as an active volunteer, umpire, board member, and President. He has seen us through so many transformations and through the extra challenges of the pandemic. When Jason’s kids aged out of baseball, he didn’t take his foot off the gas; he continued to serve the community as President, knowing what it meant for the next generations of ballplayers.

Since Jason’s family joined us over eight years ago, he has been one of BRC’s greatest assets: a man of great integrity and a genuine believer in the potential of the players and their dreams.

During his tenure, Jason has taken BRC, a strong league complete with all the ingredients for greatness, and has worked with partners and countless volunteers to help secure the future of BRC as the pinnacle youth baseball league in Calgary.

While the Board is saddened to see Jason transition out of the role he has filled so admirably for so many years, we are excited that he leaves us with a strong legacy and framework to continue to provide top-performing baseball programs.

We offer our deepest gratitude to Jason for his years of service. Jason, your passion and dedication have made BRC immeasurably stronger and more resilient for generations to come.

The Board has struck a nomination committee to help recruit Jason’s successor, as well as for additional roles on the board that are opening up. Please stay tuned for more information on the upcoming AGM, nominations, and the election process.

If you have the opportunity to see Jason in person or reach out to him, please join us in thanking him for his hard work, dedication, and philosophy of servant leadership.

Sincerely,

Babe Ruth Calgary, Board of Directors
